The television presenter Claudia Winkleman is her half-sister from her father's first marriage to Eve Pollard. Her father, Barry Winkleman, published the Times Atlas of World History, and her mother is the children's author Cindy Black.

She is married to Lord Frederick Windsor, the son of Prince Michael of Kent, a paternal cousin of Queen Elizabeth II. Sophie Lara Winkleman (born 5 August 1980) is an English actress.
